Learning C and G7 Chords

Now let’s learn two of the most basic chords on guitar — C and G7.

C Major Chord:

  • C (root), E (third), G (fifth)

Fingering (left hand):

  • 1st finger (index): 2nd string, 1st fret
  • 2nd finger (middle): 4th string, 2nd fret
  • 3rd finger (ring): 5th string, 3rd fret

G7 Chord:

  • G (root), B (third), D (fifth), F (seventh)

Fingering (left hand):

  • 1st finger (index): 1st string, 1st fret
  • 2nd finger (middle): 5th string, 2nd fret
  • 3rd finger (ring): 6th string, 3rd fret

Tips:

  • Keep your fingers close to the frets (near the metal bar).
  • Otherwise, the sound may be unclear or buzzing.

Use your fingertips with a natural curve, avoiding contact with other strings.
